HI-HO IT'S BACK TO HOLLYWOOD WE GO...

Earlier this year April 2018, we went back to Hollywood to learn how to write and produce pop songs from people who actually work in the industry at Westlake Studios, Los Angeles. This is where the magic happens baby and where the next gen songwriters and producers hone their craft.

WHAT'S THE DEAL-IO?

After our second pilgrimage to the ASCAP Expo in 2017 with our band, we realised that the music vibe in the USA is insane and unlike any other place on frickin' the planet! ASCAP expo was inspiring because you were in the hustle and bustle of the music hub, where people who actually wanted to write hit records were all accumulated. There's something about the up and comings and rock stars on the Sunset Strip that is authentic here. You were mixing with grammy award winning and nominated artists and the new kids on the block. We learnt the stories behind 'those' hit songs and hit records.

It was around that time we sat down and had a meeting with a mentor who owned a spin-off company from Capitol Records and sought advice about our songs and the music industry. This is when we heard of this academy that purpose is to shape tomorrow's hit makers. At this little gem you will learn how to create pop soundscapes, engineer and mix your tunes- so you can be truly independent and financially free, how to monetise your music, to produce and remix songs -borrowing the original stems from songs written by Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson and constructing that all important winning magic pop song formula.

BECAUSE WE ARE YES PEOPLE...

To get into this academy you are pre-screened to gauge an understanding of your musical ability and business plan. An ex- A&R rep listen to your songs to advise you of career plans and hone your craft. After an hour and half phone interview with the administrations officer...we were accepted. We're going to Hollywood baby.

LIVIN' IN HOLLYWOOD

Lachlan spent a month living near Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. He spent his days working out of Westlake studios where Rhianna, Beyonce, Michael Jackson and many more record their hit records to this very day.

He was mentored by the awesome Doug Fenske and Peter Petro whose resumes are mind-blowingly cool and they are very awesome guys. Google them.

IN DA STUDIO

Rochelle joined Lachlan for two weeks popping into the studio and the cool thing about this place is ANYTIME you return to the Hollywood and can book the studio and use it when you're in town. Soooo...yes, we will be returning to the USA in the future.

SETTIN' GOALS

We were fortunate enough to have a meeting with ex-A&R rep who met with us to listen to our songs and hatch a business plan, which is currently underway.

Westlake Studios is where Michael Jackson recorded his ground-breaking 'Thriller' Album. Lach enjoyed playing the piano and manning the sound-desk. A once in a lifetime opportunity.

MUSICAL FRIENDS ARE THE BEST TYPES OF FRIENDS

We met some incredible friends and caught up with old friends who have some very exciting musical developments. We're looking forward to taking the time to achieve our next stage of our goals. We have a lot of songs you haven't heard yet and we are developing them behind close doors. Watch this space...
